Rundle Street is a must for those looking for a more sophisticated shopping strip. The likes of Zimmerman, Alannah Hill, Morrison, Sass & Bide, Mimco, Pierucci and more are featured along the strip.
On the other end of Rundle Street is of course, Rundle Mall, with department stores David Jones and Myer along with independent stores such as Country Road, Esprit etc
Burnside Village is for those seeking a more upmarket scene, in the leafy eastern suburbs. Fantastic location to shop and stop for a coffee. Marion Shopping Centre has all you would want under one roof - approximately a 30 minute drive from the city though.
I was reading back over this, when i realised i failed to mention one of the greatest shopping and food districts in Adelaide - The Parade, Norwood. The Parade is a must go to if you're looking for anything from quirky boutiques such as Birdcage, to the more chain-store shops such as Country Road.
Towards the city end of The Parade, hidden away is a small store called "Burlingtons". I came accross it about a year ago when shopping for men's clothes. Not only did i discover that they are the only independent, non-department store in Adelaide to stock men's Ralph Lauren, but they are the ONLY place in Adelaide as yet to stock the current season ladies Ralph Lauren collections. New favourite store? I think so...

Burnside Village Shopping Mall Extension
As you may have heard by now, the iconic Burnisde Village in the Eastern suburbs is extending its shopping precinct. Building works commenced not too long ago, blocking off the majority of the outdoor carparking - while it's a pain for shoppers in the short term, it will all definately be worth it once it is finished.
'Stage 3' of the development is being developed around the large gum tree in the carpark. The extension is to extend the centre northwards, the two current malls will be connected at the northern end, to make movement and shopping more convenient.
As released by Burnside Village, this is what the extension is predicted to look like:
This stage is to add 37 new retail shops, comprising of a mixture of mens and womens fashion of both Australian and International labels.
Roumour has it.....that brands such as Armani Exchange, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Burberry are to join Adelaide's most prestigeous shopping destination.
Stay tuned for more...

Popular breakfast cafe "Citrus" closes its doors
Citrus, on Hutt St has for a long time been one of my favourite breakfast locations. Some of my earliest memories are of going out to citrus on a weekend for a nice relaxing breakfast. I still remember the years when there was that cute fire place at the back and you could sit beside it on a cold winter day.
I was saddened to hear that they have had to close their doors due to debts of $200,000, and a liquidator has been appointed to sell the restaurant's equipment.
Who knows, maybe a new owner will re-open this popular location.

The rain and cold weather continues through the start of spring...
The bridge to cross the River Torrens on the City to Hills Linear Park cycling track is difficult to cross to say the least at times like this, due to the mud and water splashing over the bridge
Best Breakfast in Adelaide
After years of heading to either Citrus, East Terrace Continental and Eros for breakfast, i was recently told that Chianti (on Hutt St) not only has delicious lunch and dinner but serves a fantastic breakfast too. I plan to try it out sometime within the next week, will let you know how it goes.

Earthquake shakes up our NZ neighbours
An earthquake shook the city of Christchurch in NZ in the early hours of yesterday morning, with a magnitude of 7.4 buildings were destroyed, bridges collapsed, gas leaks were caused and water and sewerage mains ruptured. Christchurch mayor Bob Parker immediately declared a state of emergency. 6 Australians were present at the time of the quake, luckily none were injured. Our thoughts are with those left with no running water or electricity.

Wild Weather
Woke up this morning (friday) hoping to go out for a bike ride along the river torrens linear park trail, only to find the wind blowing the trees in all directions! not even an hour later it started pouring down with rain...this was at about 9 am. Its now 1.45am on saturday morning and it still hasn't stopped raining!!
Im glad its raining cos of the drought, but this weather makes everyone so miserable - lighten up Adelaide :)
Okay, it's now late saturday evening and the storm is still going...yesterday the predicted rainfall was 20mm, however it surpassed that and we had 28mm, with all resorviours now overflowing and roads flooded, seems like its safer to stay indoors. The above photos are from those who have braved the extreme weather and gone outside.

Best Coffee Shops
Walk through the streets of Adelaide CBD on a lazy sunday morning, and you'll most probably find yourself walking down the footpath, with only about half a dozen other people. Once you reach Rundle Street, the scene is a bit busier, with people strolling the streets with friends or family after a coffee and breakfast.
Of course, Cibo is high up there as one of the busiest along the strip for the best coffee shop with an amazing smooth coffee, made to perfection. The temperature is always perfect, with the coffee never too strong so that it over-powers the smoothness of the freshly ground beans.
Walk a little further down the strip, and on the corner of Rundle St and Ebeneezer Pl you will find Felici. Not only is the customer service great, the coffee and range of snacks will always get your taste buds going. Drop in on a weekend and sit outside amongst the cyclists passing by for their morning coffee or sit inside under the chandeliers and enjoy the warm atmosphere the staff and locals bring. Here you'll find regulars who are most welcoming and are willing to have a friendly chat with you.
Further down the strip, toward East Terrace is a new coffee shop on the left, opposite Cocoalt, with what seems like a couch out of the popular tv series 'Friends'. Come along and bring your friends and have a chat over a coffee whilst sitting on the confortable couch in the window. Although quite small, the Italian ambiance will be sure to leave you wanting more.
If you live in the hills, venture onto Hallett Road and visit 'Taylor Blend'. This is a small coffee shop, surrounded by the leafy views of the eastern suburbs. You will not be disappointed by the friendliness of the staff, nor the locals. And the coffee is sure to impress any connoisseur
